The project focuses on combining humorous found objects, fake news and recycled design, with the goal of reinterpreting everyday visual elements in creative and critical ways.

FOTOSHOOTING

The “ZERO CHILL” knitwear collection is a mix of jacquard and rib knit. The knits were made from the deadstock yarn of the fashion brand Marc Cain. It is a shrinking yarn that contracts when heated. Paired with Mohair yarn, it creates an interesting 3D surface, as you can see in the flower sweater vest down below.

DESIGNS

For designing the outfits I used spontaneous object finds, process snippets and everyday experiences. I mixed them up and combined them in aesthetic outfit collages.

3D DESIGN

To get a feeling of shape and pattern design I pre-developed some of the designs in a 3D model. As this project is all about sustainability this step helped reducing waste normally spend on prototypes.

SKIN INSTALLATION

Consisting of recycled materials, I have created a spatial installation in which the boundaries between synthetics and real skin become blurred. The tights filled with cotton wool appear organic and like individual body parts, while the blazer made of recycled foam lies in the corner like a dead, stripped skin.

Initially still very clearly distinguishable in their separation, the elements become so intermingled in collages and photographs that in the end they can hardly be told apart.

Sketchbook

To collectively present all my creative thoughts and design ideas I decided to bind my very own book out of cardboard pages. I proceeded to give the book a “second skin” by sewing it a cover and making it part of my skin installation.
